Overview

Making a positive social impact is at the forefront of our decision-making, as we proactively support agricultural communities that have been neglected by the larger commercial lenders. Our consultative approach means our success is directly tied into the success of the farming communities we work in.

We boast a diverse team of experienced professionals – many of whom came from senior positions within banking, finance and investment management. The team is spread across the UK and we have a strong regional presence to support our investment projects on the ground.

Prestige ClimateInvest is part of the wider Prestige business. Prestige consists of several other companies which share the common objective of providing genuinely alternative and innovative financial products and services.

Prestige was established just months before the largest ever global financial crisis of 2008, which continues to shape economics, politics and social issues across the world. Since then, we have successfully launched several businesses and innovative financial products and services that now employ over 100 professionals across the UK, Malta, Luxembourg and Cayman. We have also raised almost USD 2 billion in assets.

Our investor base continues to grow and evolve both geographically as well as by category. We now manage significant assets for institutional investors such as pension funds, family offices and sovereign wealth funds. This is testament to the experience and dedication of our various teams and the systems and processes we have developed – both of which are helping us continue to produce innovative products and services and grow our assets under management.

Prestige operates several specialist alternative credit funds which have attracted thousands of investors from around the world seeking commercial rates of return and a positive social impact. Prestige takes centuries-old financing tools and overlays expertise in structuring, risk management and financial software to bring global capital to underserved businesses.

Prestige helps forward-thinking investors around the world put their capital to work alongside their values. Alongside our dedicated finance arrangers, we specialise in areas of lending where traditional lenders often shy away from due to increased capital requirements, complexity, cost or time.

Much of our lending activity can be viewed as ‘consultative lending’. This means we often provide much more than just the money behind a venture, as we help a small business to finance in productivity and finance out some of its fixed costs.

We originate all of our own loans as well as ongoing servicing, maintenance, risk mitigation, work out and recovery. This enables us to operate with a significant depth of knowledge of our customers and the strengths, weaknesses, threats and opportunities around the sectors they operate in.

A commercial farm enterprise is concerned about rising costs of energy, fertiliser and waste disposal, and is looking for ways to ‘finance in’ some productivity and ‘finance out’ some of its fixed costs. Project Finance such as the installation of a ‘Bio Gas’ plant will generate a significant second source of income as well as providing electricity, gas, heat and fertiliser enabling the business to become considerably more energy and waste self-sufficient.

The emergence of financial technology to accelerate lending holds promise and ‘big data’ is becoming increasingly widely available to support credit scoring. More importantly, levels of transparency and security are increasing. However, there is no substitute yet for the know-your-customer and risk management best practices of traditional financing.

Prestige’s leadership and management teams are passionate about putting money to work in support of actual business transactions in places where it can make a big difference.

We have extensive experience in fund management, asset finance, invoice finance and project finance. We believe in the power of markets to create shared prosperity and social stability when every qualified business owner can say ‘yes’ to opportunity.

By offering commercial finance that is accessible to more small businesses across more communities, we support the development of financial independence, jobs and wealth creation for the long term.
